How can I avoid fraud and stay safe?

Solution We recommend that some common sense principles be applied given that Ads are not being approved or vetted before being published:

Buying and selling stuff
  1. As far as possible, buyers and sellers should meet in person to carry out transactions.

  2. Wiring of money should be avoided. If the transfer of money must be done, use payment methods with fraud protection.

  3. Do not release personal information like passwords or banking details.

  4. Do some research on what you are buying by checking on retail prices as well as the prices of other postings. If the deal is too good to be true, then it is probably a scam.

Social interaction
  1. Exercise due caution when meeting strangers. Meet in public places and bring along a friend or relative if possible.

  2. When meeting up, do not feel obliged to continue if you feel uncomfortable. Leave immediately if this situation arises.
